LEDtronics-Did You Know Ep 8-LEDtronics is an expert in Area and Street lighting

At LEDtronics, the application solutions we offer are not always limited to those found in our standard LED Product offering. Despite the roughly 13,000 products in our archive, occasionally a customer approaches us with a new application. Through working with a multitude of clients and countless different applications over the past 30 Years of our existence, we have truly perfected the art and science of LED lighting. In the area of street lighting, LEDtronics saw massive room for improvement over the older energy hungry technology.

Most street lights currently utilize outdated technology such as HPS, or High Pressure Sodium lamps; an extreme power consumer. When compared next to the LEDtronics LED Cobrahead street lighting fixture, the difference is dramatically apparent. The most important difference between these two types of lighting technologies is the power consumption. The HPS 250 Watt lamp pulls nearly 300 watts between the lamp and ballast, while the LED fixture pulls a mere 85 watts.

But power isn't the only measurement by which LEDs will reduce costs. When you consider the lifetime comparison between the HPS lamp and ballast versus the LED fixture, it is easy to see why maintenance costs would be enormously reduced.Combining the approximately 75% in energy cost savings, along with the reduced maintenance requirements and the environmental favorability, the ROI of LED cobra-heads from LEDtronics is outstanding.

These new fixtures are already being implemented by many of our clients helping them to not only reduce their energy costs but also their maintenance costs while providing lighting that is very security friendly.

This same LED technology is incorporated into all of our Area Lighting products as well as thousands of other LEDtronics products. The possibilities are endless and the benefits are numerous. Visit our website to learn more about the Cobrahead fixture and all of our other exciting products.

LEDtronics relights the iconic Vincent Thomas Los Angeles Harbor Bridge - San Pedro CA

LEDtronics felt privileged to be apart of the project to light the Vincent Thomas Los Angeles Harbor Bridge in San Pedro CA, because it was an amazing example of community commitment and love for its city. The grass-roots campaign began in 1988 when local community members came together to raise money in order to beautify the bridge and create an iconic gateway to the Port of Los Angeles.

After years of various obstacles, LEDtronics invited the committee members to come to LEDtronics and learn about LED lighting and the benefits that LED lighting offered.  It became clear that LEDtronics could offer a solution with its ability to design and manufacture a product for their specific application needs and that LED lights were the best solution. LEDtronics presented a customized fixture design and the color blue was selected in order to stand out against the marina and night skyline.

A total of 160 fixtures were installed, 80 on the suspension cables and 80 on the deck of the bridge. Each fixture would use a maximum of 19.5 watts, significantly less than if conventional incandescent or HID bulbs had been used. Solar panels were contributed by LADWP and placed in their Mojave Solar Farm to offset line voltage power drawn from the grid to power the LED fixtures. In essence the LED fixtures are indirectly powered by Solar power based on the cooperation extended by LADWP.

The city and community benefitted by the use of LEDtronics LEDs:
  • ·        A new visually appealing Port of Los Angeles landmark
  • ·        Savings through lower wattage energy reduction
  • ·        Reduced light pollution and light intrusion into residence
  • ·        50,000+ hour life-span to save on maintenance costs

The illuminated bridge was a success that pleased the city, community and tourist population. It has now become the catapult for a greater scale effort to transform the waterfront into a dynamic area for both leisure and industry.

LEDtronics has been “Creating the Future of Light Since 1983 providing energy efficient and environmentally friendly LED lighting products to customers. Through our innovative skills, we are able to address customers’ specific needs and provide expert technical assistance. Faces of LEDtronics: Gary Peterson

At work

Gary Peterson is a man of many skills at LEDtronics. As National Sales Manager, he is
involved in many projects at any given time. He has a hand in everything from basic
sales duties to quality certification processes to marketing and trade shows. He is
involved in the application development of products as well as the transportation
and prioritization of orders.

Gary has been with LEDtronics for 17 years and worked his way up in the company.
He began in Distributor Sales, then a Regional Sales Manager and now National Sales
Manager. He values company loyalty and commitment and has proven that through
his many years with LEDtronics.

According to Gary, his favorite thing about working at LEDtronics is that every
day presents a new experience and challenge. He is grateful that the nature of
LEDtronics technology constantly brings him into new and interesting situations. He
enjoys being apart of the evolution of LED technology. Something he often tells his
clients in regards to new LED tech is, “If I say no today, just call me tomorrow.”

While Gary finds great fulfillment in the success of booking big orders, he truly
values the family atmosphere that LEDtronics creates. Working side by side with
new and old coworkers builds a friendship and bond that he recognizes as unique to
the company.

At Home

Gary values his time with his family as much as he values his LEDtronics family. “I try to fully divorce from my daily routine at work and be with my family and friends,” he says. With a wife of 38 years, a son and daughter-in-law and two grandchildren nearby, family means a lot.

Gary also enjoys his involvement with coaching youth baseball. He has been coaching for over 3 decades and has even worked with baseball scouts and in high school programs. He says, “I try to impress upon them baseball is not everything in the world, to remember that family comes first, then school, then religion and than baseball.” He wants the kids to learn values from the team that they can take into their every day lives.

Gary feels that is very important to put your best foot forward at work and at home. He considers his motto, “Any job big or small do it right or not at all.”
