Kingman Regional Medical Center in AZ upgrades it's parking lot lighting with LEDtronics High Power LED Shoebox Fixtures

Pressed on by its security department that was anxious to have better lighting in the hospital’s parking lot for the security cameras to operate more efficiently, the Facilities Maintenance Department of Kingman Regional Medical Center approached Howard Industrial Sales in nearby Chandler to initiate energy savings comparisons and a lighting upgrade proposal in order to increase the light output in its vast parking lot.

Nestled in the foothills of the Hualapai Mountain range, the award-winning Kingman Regional Medical Center (KRMC) is a community-owned 235-bed healthcare facility located in Kingman, Arizona—the seat of the Mohave County. It is the largest provider of health and wellness services in northwestern Arizona and has been often recognized as one of the nation’s top 100 hospitals in the State of the Nation’s Hospitals report. At 3,500 feet in elevation, the hospital sits in a beautiful high-desert rural community.

The medical center was using 250-watt HPS lamps in 88 fixtures throughout the campus, running on voltage ranges from 120VAC to 277VAC. The poles are mostly around 16-20 feet high, with some in the 24'-26' range; they are spaced 40-60 feet apart in the parking lot.

When Howard Industrial Sales made a demonstration of the 88-watt LEDtronics SLL003P-30X2W-XPW-005 LED luminaire, the chairman of the board, managers and other executives were all impressed by the light output and the resulting detail clarity in the security cameras, not to mention the energy savings of 202 watts per fixture.

The proposed upgrade to LED lighting also coincided with the KRMC embracing the green movement in recent months and undertaking a leadership position in environmentally friendly solutions in their community.

An initial order to replace the 88 HPS lamps was shipped within a few months, followed by another shipment to bring the total to 104 LED lamps. The shoebox-style LED luminaires use over 60% less energy than the conventional HPS units that were being used, and require much less maintenance in the way of bulb and ballast replacement. The LEDtronics LED parking-lot lights are provided with a 5-year warranty and will provide useful light with no more than 30% light degradation at 50,000 hours of operation. This results in an estimated savings slightly in excess of $100,000 during that time frame.

What started as a project to get better-lit images out of the security cameras ended up as a whole package of energy savings as well as security benefits and better lighting for users of the parking lot. Due to the success of the project, Kingman is now looking at other areas within the facility where LED lighting might bring energy savings as well as reduce maintenance labor and time.

LED T4 Tube Bulb Replaces 15-Watt Filament Bulbs with up to 94% Energy Savings, 50 Times Longer Life

LEDtronics® announces another of its energy-saving LED light bulbs: the LED15T4 -SIW-120A T4 tube bulb with an E12 candelabra base and 120A input voltage. The 0.9-Watt consuming LED tube bulb replaces incandescent bulb numbers 15T4, 15T6/CB/130, 15T7/CB/130 and GE 15T7C 13494 up to 15 Watts.

The LED15T4 series boasts more than 23 lumens and a spherical candela of 1.84 while drawing just 0.18mA current. This translates into an efficacy of 23.1 lumens per a watt of energy. It provides a warm-white light in the range 2800K to 3200K and is ideally used in indicator lamps, theater aisle seats, night lights, step lights and decorative lighting. It easily installs in any fixture with an E12 candelabra base.

With the 50,000-hour lifespan of white LEDs, the LEDtronics LED15T4 series lamp offers 50 times the average 1,000-hour rated life of an equivalent filament T4 bulb. With the 94% energy reduction compared to a 15-Watt incandescent bulb, savings from greatly extended life, reduced maintenance costs and major reduction in energy usage quickly return the capital investment expenditure, making the LED bulb as friendly to the environment as it is to the operating budget.

A clear, shatter-resistant polypropylene lens and a Rynite® sleeve protect the LEDs from environmental stress, while the solid-state design renders them impervious to electrical and mechanical shock, vibration, frequent switching and environmental extremes. LED lamps produce almost no heat and do not get hot to the touch. The LED15T4 -SIW-120A T4 tube bulb operates in an ambient operating temperature range of ~-22°F to ~+122°F.

The LEDtronics LED15T4 series bulbs comes with a 3-year limited warranty and is priced $18.53 each; availability is stock to 4-6 weeks for special requirements. Large-quantity discounts are available.

High-Efficacy PAR LED Bulbs Offer 90% Energy Savings As Incandescent Replacements

Continuing to add to its line of innovative and energy-efficient LED replacements for incandescent and halogen light bulbs, LEDtronics® announces its new series of PAR-style high-power, high-efficacy lamps with highest-grade LEDs and Fresnel lens.

Operating either in 120VAC dimmable or in a wide voltage input range of 90-290VAC, the line of Edison medium screw-base and GU24 bi-pin base bulbs come in various PAR20, PAR30 and PAR38 styles. With energy consumption ranging from 7 watts (PAR20) through 12 watts (PAR30) and up to 15 watts (PAR38), the lamps directly replace incandescents and halogen lamps that consume up to 100 watts, and even compact fluorescent bulbs up to 26 watts, resulting in tremendous energy savings. These state-of-the-art PAR lamps boast 20 percent higher efficacy than the previous generation of LEDtronics PAR lamps.

All of the 120VAC dimmable PAR lamps are UL listed.

The new lineup of PAR lamps provides an outstanding color quality in a 3200K warm-white light and boasts a CRI of 82 that enhances colors and safeguards their fidelity. The focused beam of around 45 degrees generates brightness ranging from 333 lumens (PAR20) to 762 lumens (PAR38).

These LEDtronics PAR LED bulbs offer long-lasting durability, easy drop-in installation in existing 26mm Edison/E27 European screw-base sockets or GU24 dual-pin sockets, and sturdy construction in an aluminum heat-sink body with UV-stabilized plastic Fresnel lens over the latest generation of high-efficacy Cree LEDs.

Because LEDs have no filament, their solid-state design renders them impervious to shock, vibration, frequent switching and environmental extremes. With an average lifespan of up to 50,000 hours, white LED bulbs operate more than 20 times longer than the equivalent incandescent bulb! Unlike compact fluorescents, LEDs contain no harmful mercury; and unlike incandescents, LEDs do not emit large amounts of heat and no ultraviolet or infrared light. This makes them perfect for use in museums, hospitals, offices or areas where UV radiation might degrade the surroundings (such as illuminating valuable artwork, wine cellars or food service areas). The fact that they run remarkably cool also means they greatly reduce the fire hazard normally associated with the use of incandescent lamps.

These economical, high-quality medium spotlights are perfect in track lighting, ceiling-can downlight fixtures, security and emergency lights, general/architectural and landscape lighting, display case fixtures and cabinet lighting, sign spot lighting, OEM equipment lighting, bio-medical and medical applications, museums or theatrical-effects lighting.

Since LED lights are 50% more efficient than compact fluorescent lamps, these bulbs are perfect operating with an alternative or renewable energy resource such as solar or wind power in cold or warm environments.

The environmentally friendly, maintenance-free LEDtronics PAR series is RoHS certified—it adheres to strict European guidelines concerning the Reduction of Hazardous Substances such as lead and mercury. As well, they reduce light pollution in outdooor installations and, as a result, are compatible with the international “Dark Skies” initiative.

The LEDtronics PAR-style LED bulbs come with a 3-year warranty and are available from LEDtronics distributors. The product line includes: PAR20(GU)-8W-XIW series ($56.40), PAR30(GU)-12W-XIW series ($82.50), PAR30L-12W-XIW series (long-neck, $82.50), and PAR38(GU)-15W-XIW series ($103.50).

Availability is stock to 4-8 weeks for largest requirements. New R16 LED Lamps Deliver Energy-Efficiency and Long Life

LEDtronics® announces its latest generation of direct incandescent-replacement R16 LED Reflector Lamps with standard 26mm medium screw base. The bulbs operate on 120VAC and provide a concentrated 40-degree beam of light from a cluster of 40 LEDs.

The energy-efficient R16-40-SIW-120AM (3,000K warm white) and R16-40-TPW-120AM (5000K natural white) draw just 1.7 watts each and provide up to 140 lumens. Up to 90% savings in energy costs over incandescent and halogen bulbs, and an operating lifespan of up to 50,000-hour LED make these high-efficacy R16 lamps ideal for architects, retail store display creators, entertainment designers and other lighting professionals to integrate economical illumination into maintenance-intensive applications—display spot lights, showcase lights, area lights, signage and backlighting, in addition to reading and task lights. They also can be used as individual pixels in a large dot matrix screen and moving signs.

A clear, shatter-resistant lexan lens and a white polycarbonate sleeve protect the LED cluster from environmental stresses, making the lamps suitable for both indoor and outdoor use. Solid-state design renders LEDs impervious to electrical and mechanical shock, vibration, frequent switching and environmental extremes. Additionally, with the use of multiple LEDs, an LED cluster lamp continues to provide light even if one or more emitters fail, unlike what befalls an incandescent bulb when its filament breaks.

The virtually maintenance-free LEDtronics R16 lamps are also environmentally friendly—they contain neither lead nor mercury. As well, they reduce light pollution in outdoor installations and, as a result, are compatible with the international “Dark Skies” initiative.

Because of their low power draw, they are ideal for use with alternate or renewable energy resources like solar and wind power.

The R16-40-SIW-120AM and R16-40-TPW-120AM bulbs come with a 3-year limited warranty and are priced $49.50 each; availability is stock to 4-6 weeks for special requirements. Large-quantity discounts are available.

LEDtronics LED String Lights up Chicago’s North Michigan Avenue Trees

LEDtronics LED String Lights light up Chicago’s North Michigan Avenue Trees

2009 marked the 50th anniversary of the lighting of the trees along North Michigan Avenue, which was the first street in the world to adopt this annual holiday event in 1959.

For half a century, the trees along the Magnificent Mile, the roughly mile-long stretch of North Michigan Avenue between Oak Street and the Chicago River, have been illuminated to signal the official kick-off of the holiday season in the Windy City and around the nation. This stretch—one of the top-ten hospitality, fine dining and retail districts in the world—is, in many ways, the heart of the city, a place that bustles with life year-round.

Christmas 2009 marked another milestone for the annual lighting event—the use of LED string lights to adorn the sidewalk trees lining the 900 block of Michigan Ave. called 900 West Shops. About 10 trees were festooned with 100 strings of LEDtronics string lights, replacing incandescent lights used previously and reducing energy consumption by 70%.
